Shades of Separation
A collection of photographs and poems forcing the reader to acknowledge that in this world there are many reasons to fixate on the things that separate us as human beings, but many more reasons to celebrate the many things we share in common. From birth to death, marriage to divorce, your first day on the job to your retirement party, Americans share many of life's events in our own communities separately and often hidden from each other. This self published book is a honest attempt to give each other access to the greatest amalgam of cultures on Earth, America.
"Teaching in Vain" is a photo-journalistic collection of stories and black & white photographs chronicling the state of public education in NC. Have the laws set in place to disband the overturned separate but equal laws of the past been effective? Are schools still separate but equal? Are schools funded equally? Are schools being fully funded to a level that makes it possible for them to meet state and federal standards? What problems or challenges do teachers have to solve on a day to day basis?
